THE LONELY MAN
There once was a very private man
who never knew how much
his wisdom and knowledge
meant something dear to another
He talked of dreams and wishes
he talked of days gone by
he talked of a traditional life
that is fading away to the modernized society
This man, he says, prefers to be alone;
not wanting to open up and be vulnerable
to newfound friendship,
forever shuts tight his heart
for fear of letting himself feel
compassion from another.
Who has hurt you so deeply that you dare open up for another?
Who has crushed your heart so much that you stay bitter and cold?
This very private man
lives a lonely life,
trudging from one day to the next
speaking of things
but not truly living by what he portrays to be.
I am saddened for you,
you bitter, lonely, private man.
You do not understand I mean no harm,
only to be a caring, sharing friend that
wants to bring happiness to your closed-off heart.
