Lilac in the Spring Bloomin’ lilac in the spring
A taken me back where
Chickens went a laying
Plenty of eggs out there

Grandma and Grandpa
Stayed busy with the farm
Drying corn to eatin’ okra
Keepin’ us safe from harm

Cool mornin’, ‘n warm day
Sweet breezes a blowin’
Sunup and Sundown neigh
While sheep a baa in the pen

Grandkids runnin’ up ‘n
Down a metal cellar door
With a thunderous bangin’
Entertainin’ ‘em all the more

Billy ‘n Brad barking yon
Probably gone a chasing
Rabbits they’ve happened on
Up under the lilac in the spring
