Melanie C. Campos ~ MahTame

AH-HO DAW-K’GEE, AH-HO
(Thank You God, Thank You)

‘Ah-ho Daw-K’gee, Ah-ho’
The Earth we love ‘n respect
As your People we walk
Never treat it with neglect

Tis a quiet day in the valley
Nary a cool, autumn breeze
As I gaze into the mountains
Through tall mesquite trees

Cows grazing in pasture yon
Rustling of dried seed pods
A lone butterfly flits on by
Ridding the soul of fantods

Fresh air sings with melody
The ancients protect us all
Whispers of Kiowa words
Speak through nature’s call

Days of yesteryear mingle
Unto memories of our mind
Keep them always and alive
As we fight off strife’s bind

‘Ah-ho Daw-K’gee, Ah-ho’
Your Earth we love ‘n respect
As your People we walk
And ne’er treat with neglect
