CONTINUANCE
Baby is born,
Mother cries,
For father is not there,
By her side to hold her hand.
He is off in some distant land.
“I’ll be back.” He whispered low.
He gave her a hug and she watched him go,
He never came home,
It was supposed to be a happy day.
For he died on his way,
He fought for love,
Fought for freedom.
But his son will never see,
He will not know about this man,
Who went to some far off land.
He will see the pictures,
hear the stories.
His mother will cry late at night,
Whispering to the lord above,
Asking why he took her love.
She sees her husband,
In her son’s eyes,
She fears the day
That he, too will die.
