BELIEVE

I believed in Angels,
When I was very young,
I knew that they were Guardians,
Sent from Heaven Above.

I remember a time,
When I was very small,
In an event or three,
I was shy, small and meek.

I was nervous about the prize,
A Gold Medal,
The first place prize.

Afraid that I'd fail,
And never feel the same,
I took up the courage,
To walk up to a man.

Uniform of white,
His face as sweet as can be,
I did not know then,
But he was an angel,
One sent only for me.

I told him of my fear,
My desire to win the prize,
The man looked down at me,
Love and care in his eyes.

He kneeled low and told me in his sweet voice:

"I want to see you win, three times over."

After talking a little longer,
My fear soon subsided,
I went to do my thing,
When, much to my surprise...

I won not once, not twice, but three,
A shiny Gold medal,
I have them forever to keep.

I went to thank the man,
Who told me I would win,
But just as quickly,
The man had disappeared.

I know now,
What I should have then,
He was my Guardian Angel,
Sent to give me a hand.
