AMERICAN WAY
It takes a lot to admit to a wrong
But sometimes it’s harder
To fix it and get along
With those who were treated
With such disgrace
Why are we here
Why didn’t they stay?
We do all we can
And we say what we will
We take over a land
That not even my son will know
For as we get older
And some of us wiser
We soon begin to realize
A price so much higher
Higher than the cost
Or gas or a cell phone
It is of truth justice
And a spiritual way
I think America is lost
But return it just may
And we will rekindle
The fires once lit
The human race as a whole
Will rise amid better judgment
