HOW DID YOU SLEEP?

When you awoke this morning
Were you refreshed from repose,
Or were you kinda' aching
From your head to your toes?

Did you toss and turn in your sleep
And dream of activities on the beach,
Or being chased by wild animals
Who were just beyond their reach?

Did you reflect upon what you ate,
All that was on your plate,
Like sardines and sour kraut,
And the stuff you didn't do without?

Perhaps your sleepless state
Was not the result of what you ate,
But instead was due to the bed,
Upon which you laid your head.

Was the bed too short
And the covers too narrow,
As Isaiah in 28:20 said
Regarding Israel's bed?

Could it be that sleep escapes the one
Who labors only beneath the sun,
With no view of Heaven above
And no concern for the God of love?

When you go to bed tonight
Pull the covers up tight,
Open your heart to God,
And sleep in "The Land of Nod"!
