A FRIEND IS HE
Muggsy is just
A four-legged friend,
Who will stay with me
From beginning to end.
He's never been to school,
But practices the "golden Rule".
Muggsy has no spirit,
But what he does, his all is in it.
He cannot love more
Than he did today.
He'd rather stay with me
Than to run and play.
His heart is pure gold,
And when he is old,
I'll be a friend to him,
And be his eyes when his are dim.
