A COOL DAY TODAY
Down on the MS Gulf Coast
I've had my coffee and toast;
Fed the family of Canadian geese
Who swim on the lake in peace.
Some ducks, too, come to feed
Mallards they are who have need,
Of human care and concern
And unlike college kids, they learn!
College kids buy books to read
While ducks and geese are here to feed;
They take no tests and get no degrees,
But major in eating corn and peas.
This cool December day
Is picture-postcard pure,
And all the fowl on the lake
Are happy here for sure!
If I were a Canadian goose
I'd like to live on our lake,
For this is a beautiful place
And my home here I'd make.
