A '34 FORD VICTORIA
Born in the twenties
in the age of the Model T...
Ford has seen changes
and I've seen some in me...
All the Fords were black
with wooden spoke wheels...
Each had a crank out front
there were no special deals...
Life was simple in those days
No locks were on the doors...
and more often than not
no carpet on our floors ...
Electricity had not found its way
to most rural country places...
and when the sun went down
light from coal oil lit our faces...
The ice box was just that
placards from 50 to a 100 pounds...
in the window told what size block
as the iceman made his rounds...
Learned to drive, I did
on a '34 Ford Vicki...
and on gravel roads
that Ford was tricky...
What I'd give to have that Ford
with cowl lights and rumble seat...
It would take twenty grand today
to own a '34 Ford Vicki so neat...
Modern Fords and Chevy's too
Have both made sport cars...
while NASA just the other day
put two space cars on Mars...
Earth has seen changes in Fords
since the years of decades past...
and changes are in all old men
who are not made to last...
But '34 Fords can be renewed
engines rebuilt and sheet metal too...
but old men walk with a different gait
than when that '34 Ford was new...
What a beautiful sight it would be
to see a gray-haired man of many a year...
sitting behind the steering wheel
of a '34 Ford Vicki, smiling from ear to ear...
And I would volunteer...

Author’s Note: Like other 1934 Fords, the Victoria was slightly restyled compared to the previous years' models. White wall tires were optional equipment .A 221 c.i.d V8 engine provided the power. In mid year the Victoria received a new feature, a hatch to load luggage from outside the car. Previously luggage had to be loaded from inside.
