MUGGSY IS MY OFFICE BOY!
He’s only a Boston Terrier,
Black and white with eyes of brown,
But he knows that he is needed
To keep his eyes upon the ground!
For squirrels play and feed outside my door,
And through the door of glass,
He keeps sentinel upon the floor,
While they play upon the grass!
Now, he does a very good job
Of keeping them at bay,
For no squirrel came
Through the glass today!
He heeds his duty well,
And guards me as I work.
He knows I need him here,
So his task he doesn’t shirk!
I love my four-footed friend,
With eyes so brown and warm.
He keeps me company in the sunshine,
And also through the storm!
The two of us together
In all kinds of weather,
He keeps his eyes upon the squirrel
Whether it’s a boy or a girl!
Now one of the squirrels
Is growing larger in the waist;
Looks like she needs to be
Making a nest in haste!
Soon little ones may be
Playing outside my office door.
And the Boston Terrier, Muggsy,
Will ever lie upon the floor!
So Muggsy is ever my
Four-footed office boy.
Where I am, he longs to be,
Just to bring me joy!
And he does a good job of that.
Bringing joy is his cup of tea;
And guarding my door from the floor,
Forever pleases me!
Now Muggsy has only
Body and soul;
No spirit has he,
But he is a friend to me!
