A DIFFERENT GENERATION!

I'm of a different generation,
I'm a relic of the past.
Just a WWII veteran
Whose life has faded fast.

I'm out of step with time,
In this age of modems and chips.
I'm tuned in and turned on
To piston-engined Superfortress ships.

Yet, we played the game and won,
In that war so long ago.
But 'time' has done us in,
And turned our hair to snow.

The young soldier of today
Has night vision and GPS.
He's seldom ever lost
And always does his best.

This present generation
Does not belong to me.
Sometimes I feel left out,
As if I were adrift upon the sea.

Time plays tricks on us
And sometimes is surreal;
Old veterans know this is true,
For all our youth she steals.
