MAJOR CRISIS
His manner curt and aloof
condescending to sit next to soldiers
in a bucket seat of a transport plane
flying from Johnson Island to
Luzon Philippine Islands into
strong erratic typhoon winds.
An Army Major refusing to buckle in
telling purser/sergeant to go away
so he could sleep
which he does while
high winds and rain pummels
the rocketing aluminum tube
holding soldiers giving their all
to the airsick demon.
Bodies sprawl and strain against seat belts
back and forth up and down in jerks
plane dipping and climbing hundreds of feet
as a few conscious servicemen witness
the sleeping Major's body rising in
levitation while plane drops deeply
suspending his body in air
pinning it to the ceiling briefly
before the aircraft levels off
crashing the Major to the floor
injured and unconscious.
No aid given the rule-breaking officer
for other passengers are too sick or
determined to not help the haughty one
now out like the light that didn't come on
in the Major's head to
protect him from predicted harm.
After plane's landing at Manila airport
the errant unknowing fool is
finally rescued by indifferent medics.
