THE LETTER

My country called and I stood tall;
I took the oath with pride.
I said good by, tried not to cry,
I'll write you every day.

But when it came to jot it down,
no words that I could say.
My life in this new place I was
had become my worst nightmare.

And so my love, I'll simply say,
I'm safe and healthy too.
The food is good, the guys are great,
I wish I was with you.

I'll write again tomorrow,
I hope you're feeling fine.
When I get home from this old place,
you always will be mine.
