LONELINESS, OH LONELINESS

Loneliness, oh loneliness
Why must you be this way?
Consuming every single thought
I have both night and day.

Life is all around me
The sun is shining bright.
But still my heart is lonely
And nothing feels just right.

In a crowd of people
With laughter and happiness
I'm going through the motions
But feel such loneliness.

Many days have passed us by
But still I won't let go.
These memories are buried deep
Within my tender soul.

I couldn't endure once again
The pain that we went through.
But in our days of suffering
I found a friend in you.

Your smile is so vivid.
Alive inside my mind.
How I long to hear your voice
And touch you one more time.

I still can see your face
In a cloud that passes by.
Your tears are in the raindrops
Falling from the sky.

I see your strength in the old Oak tree
Standing so straight and tall.
You were always there for me
To catch me when I fall.

When I look at a child's face
I see your faith that we'd survive.
It's the hope that I saw through you
That is keeping me alive.

Loneliness, oh loneliness
I know you are here to stay.
For my heart will hold forever
My memories of yesterday.
