JANIE MARIE TRUE
In our small country town
folks were going about life’s way
and it seemed like any other
East Texas kind of day.
It was unseasonably warm
with folks out moving around;
what happened on that afternoon
will change life in this town.
Someone was graciously welcomed
into our neighbor’s home;
with no mercy they slashed her throat
and left her to die alone.
They took the life of another
all for a car and some cash
there was no need in harming her
for she gave to all who asked.
Janie Marie True was a Christian
dedicated as a missionary.
How sad it was to take her last breath
in such a way at age eighty-three.
I feel that she never felt alone
or feared facing her final hour
with so much faith and love alive
and solid trust in her higher power.
She will be missed by so many
even folks she had not met;
think of the lost she led to the Lord
and her mission wasn’t over yet.
There is no doubt to the loved ones
who are feeling such a great loss
Janie was praying for the one who did it
and took them to the foot of the cross.
