A friend I love is suffering
As she meets her final days.
I wonder where God’s mercy is
And why it must be this way.
Then I felt His merciful teardrops
Falling from heavens way
And I knew God was answering
Many prayers that had been prayed.
He blessed her with time to watch
Flowers growing straight and tall
And smell the season in the air
As leaves began to fall.
He blessed her with time to cherish
The beauty of a morning sunrise
And to the family she loves so,
The time to say goodbye.
He blessed her with the treasure
Of looking into a baby’s eyes
And feel the kiss of a child
That was her joy and pride.
He blessed her with time to hear
Her best friend singing their song;
And to reassure her loved ones
She was ready to be taken home.
She prayed to God on her final day
Each love in her life she would know;
And that was a prayer answered
On the day she was chosen to go.
I have no doubt she is the treasure
For through her suffering, she took time to teach
That no matter what we face in life
God’s blessings are there, within reach.
