My thoughts are with our Soldiers
fighting for freedom on a foreign shore:
So brave as they lay their lives on the line
for their country – nothing less or nothing more.
It gave me a feeling of strength and pride,
with Old Glory flying on every street in town,
then one day not to long ago
for some reason the flags were taken down.
I really don’t understand the reason
and wonder if it was for the Christmas décor
but what better time to fly our flags
supporting our Soldier’s off fighting a war?
What makes the season feel different to me
as I search to find the holiday mood
is that I’m lost in a land far away
with our loved ones wearing combat boots.
They can only dream of children with Santa
family time and tinsel with lights
but still they do what a Soldier must do
as bravely against terrorism they fight.
Today on the news we lost one Soldier
the ultimate sacrifice he has paid
and the least I can do to pay my respects
is continue to fly my flag.
