HONOR WORDS SPOKEN

There are no words to express what I feel
It is almost as though it isn't real.

Like horror you'd see in a bad movie
Changing the channel so you don't have to see.

To tell you the truth I am afraid
Watching our families going away.

Away to defend OUR right to be free
Counting on the support of YOU and ME.

An uncertain future facing life and death
The only thing certain they will do their best.

Will those who survive be welcomed home
Or like Viet Nam Veterans be left standing alone?

Will our Government keep promises made upon their farewell
Or renege on compensation owed to Military personal?

Will they restore VA Hospitals to expert care?
Will compassion and understanding once again be there?

Will we unite and bear the aftermath of war
Rebuilding their lives not slamming the door?

Will we continue searching for our Missing In Action
And search until they're found with no retraction?

Will we recognize PTSD and its lifetime of hell
Listening and helping our Soldiers to heal?

Will we honor and respect our fallen Brothers?
Are we willing to provide care for their Fathers and Mothers?

Yes, my dear Country, I am justly afraid.
Putting lives on the line there are commitments made.

Commitments that forever cannot be broken
I pray for our Country to honor words spoken.

Amen
