GOING HOME

They say that going home
Is an easy thing to do.
But am changed in so many ways
Since the day that I left you.

So carefree when I left
Not a worry on my mind.
Now my head's so full of things
Even I can't seem to find.

I kept a twinkle in my eye
And a smile on my face.
But now I get so lost in thoughts
Somberness has taken its place.

I used to go to sleep at night
And dream of treasures found.
Now I hear a twig snap
And my reaction is profound.

I used to keep my distance
From folks of that "One" color.
But the "One" that took my bullet
Was in my heart my Brother.

I'm not the same one that left
But I can't face living alone.
The only thing that kept me alive
Was knowing I was going home.
