INSPIRATION
As I sit and ponder
Who meant the most to me,
I can’t think of any one,
Who really inspired me.
Was it my mother
Who nursed me when I was sick?
Or was it my father?
He taught me all the tricks.
Could it have been my uncle?
He let me smoke and chew,
Then laughed like the Devil
At this young man turning blue.
Or was it my aunt,
So little and pristine?
A more religious lady
I have never seen.
Was it my brothers in arms?
They fought the battles far
And now live with memories
Yet try and keep them in a covered jar.
I can’t think of any one
Who inspired me the most.
It has to be everyone, in life I have met,
So a toast to all of you, I’ll never forget.
