HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA

Fireworks in the night
such a pretty sight.
Fourth of July
comes only once a year
But on this day
many veterans fear.

Flashes of fireworks
lights up the sky;
Sound of mortars
in the night.
A cannons roar
off to the right.

Fire fights
galore.

It's only people celebrating
Independence Day.
But the memories
just won't go away.

Of the horror
fear and stench
It makes
the gut wrench.

But you know
you served our land.
Why won't someone
lend you a hand
and bring you out
of this torment?

You make it through
the night.
Then sun light;
One more year
' til Independence Day.

YET...
the memories stay.
