FAME

Awarded: May 30, 2004Isn’t it strange
how messages come in?
Like a tease
from a young girl’s whim.
Here every day
to read the words.
Of friends I think deserve
yet still feel lonely.
Do I stay
or do I go?
Each and every one of us
has something to give.
Yet there is wonder
if friendship is true
Or a fallacy out of the blue;
just wondering if it’s true.
In the Lion’s pit
or the Gladiator’s ring
All soldiers sang
and the world heard the ring.
The Empire fell
a new begin,
Somewhat better
but still with sin.
Yet this is life
as life begin;
And will last
till times end.
Is it fame we look for,
Or standing outside
watching life
that resides?
Actors act upon the stage
living a life of which they are not.
But we the common folk
fight the wars they think a joke.
Yet make their millions
to live in plush style
While the soldier
lives in vile.
Gives his life
body or limb
For the Elite to live their whim;
Yet the soldier gets no fame.
