A FLOWER IN BAGHDAD
In a land full of death and turmoil,
nothing but sand, dirt and oil,
a Flower grows in Iraqi soil,
a flower from far away.
A few seeds from Kansas, USA
in a pocket of a soldier on his way
to fight for peace
against the terrorist groups
A piece of home – this flower is
a ray of light in dark battles fight;
a bit of home on lonesome nights.
This flower blooms
It blooms for those who died
It blooms for those still alive
It blooms for the soldiers so dear
whose lives tread with death and fear.
It blooms for us all here at home.
It’s just a sunflower from Kansas
