ANZAC AND THE DIGGER

The ANZAC and the Digger
Into battle without a quiver
with their mates, they slew the Hun
sent them back in to a run

The ANZAC and the Digger
Long ago had some ticker
Guts and determination so slicker
Because of them the war won quicker

The actions became our benchmark
Some say Viet Nam was a lark?
Years later their is no Hun
Viet Nam sounds like a lot of fun?

Come on lads, 10 bob a day
You're needed up north some-way
What is this place called Viet Nam
Where? who cares? who gives a dam?

They watched us come, they watched us go
Gave us hell at a place called Long Tan
18 Diggers paid the full price
Who knows why? A roll of the dice

Long Tan, Balmoral, Coral to name a few
The Diggers showed again, they can do!
The war did end in 1975
Then why, so long to home arrive?
