(A Love poem from a Friend)
I look at you adoringly
I ask not very much
that which will sustain me is
your love, your voice, your touch
Always I look up to you
I am the smaller one
to me you are a giant
the stars, the moon, the sun
I speak to you so often
in ways you understand
every time you speak to me
your wish is my command
I reach to feel you near me
the height of joy for me
when your hand reaches back
caresses tenderly
I'm moved by joy unbounded
When you speak my name
to call me to come closer
my devotion has no shame
Alas, I have another name
its origin not clear
though if you spell it backwards
yet another name you'll hear
I'm not sure why I have the name,
why I am honored so
perhaps in Heaven's mirror
the answer we will know
paws to consider...
Always when you call my name
within my eyes you'll see
the love I always give to you
is unconditionally.
