MERRY CHRISTMAS
Dear Family and Friends,
Here it is Christmas Eve. And we are approaching the year 2002. I still can remember that fake Aluminum Tree that my Dad used to put up every year. It was 7 foot tall, rotated and it had a color projector that made it look like so many different colors and it even had a music box build into it that played all kinds of different Christmas carols. The year was 1967.
People use to walk by our home and stop to look at our tree. Dad would set it up in front of our big picture window in our living room that faced the street it was the latest greatest for it's time. And it had a love hate reaction to it. We didn't know what to make of it? But my Dad loved that tree and that was all that mattered. My Dad was the latest greatest gadget type of guy he loved big cars with all the whistles and the bells and dressed up like Frank Sinatra he loved Frank and boys!
The best part that evening that I remembered was decorating the tree with my Dad it was an all night adventure we talk, laugh all night and we would eat all kinds of snacks and drink Eggnog or Coca-Cola. My Dad would use that time with us to find out what we wanted for Christmas.
My brother Russ and I would give my Dad our list. Back then it was Rock and Roll and we wanted record players; imagine that record players that played 45's and LP's that were hot back then.
That year we got Zenith record players, Russ got a blue one and I got a white one, Dad knew I hated pink! And each had a 45 of the Beatles in them. If ever I have had a most blessed memory of my life I would say that this one that I just shared with you was my favorite. My Father passed away in 1994 and I lost my Brother last year January 24, 2001. They are both gone now but the memories I have of them are the most cherished in my heart and I miss them both very much.
My wish for all of you is that all of your blessings are full. My cup runs over with the blessings I have. Ask me if I am rich, famous and powerful the answer is NO. But ask me it I am blessed the answer is YES!
I am blessed with Family, Friendship, A good job, Love in my life, a place to go for my Sobriety and a place in my heart for God. Yes I am blessed with my memories of family and my friends.
I wish you Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year.
My heart is like a treasure box filled with a wealth of memories that fill my sad times with happiness!
