THE DANCE OF DREAMS
They watched the day’s sun go away;
As they watched the clouds fade,
The moon began to set.
They waited for the moon to light the earth
They prepared to Dance the Dance of Dreams
Painting their faces and wearing their buckskins
Each Warrior had a different head piece
Each Warrior would be called to sing
The Warrior’s song would sing their day’s dream
They danced in the dark of the night
When the Spirits came down from the sky,
The night’s air cooled their red hot skin.
They all prepared to dance the Dance of Dreams
Big Bear would sing:
Today I hunted with the mighty Eagle,
He landed on my shoulder
Today we hunt together
For we share the Spirit’s earth
The Gods are pleased
We have learned to share
From Mother Earth’s breast.
Today we were both Warriors and hunters in the sun
The Dance of Dreams continued throughout the night
Until every Warrior got to sing
The Dance of Dreams
