SAND CASTLE IN THE SKY

On a really hot summer day,
My Daddy took me to the beach to play
I could feel the breeze in the wind
With my shovel and bucket in my hand
We headed for the water and the sand

That day I had dreams of building a
Sand castle that would reach the sky
And when I closed my eyes
Really tight
I could see our entire city’s angels fly

They helped Daddy and me build a
Sand castle I would never for get
With all its magic and glitter in the sand
It sparkled for miles for all to see

I knew they wanted to help us make it
I could feel their wings gently brush my cheek
I felt their presence everywhere

My Dad would pretend to be a giant sea horse
And on top of his shoulders I would go
As he began to give me a ride
I felt all the freedom in the air
I could see the waters waves crashing
against the rocks so high

I could see the sun begin to set
As it lit the sky on fire
It turned the waters from blue to gold
Just then, when I was on top of his shoulders I knew
I was his favorite little girl

I made wish and closed my eyes
I would spread my little arms
Up towards the Heavens
I would pretend I could fly

On top of my Daddy’s shoulders,
I knew I was safe
I pretend my arms were my wings
And just then, I knew my day with him
Was special and all was grand

I wished my day with him would not end
Of building sand castles in the sand
That day my castle reached the sky
Another memory of my childhood

Daddy I love you
For giving me another memory for my treasure box
When I am sad, miss you so much
I pull another memory out of my treasure box
And I know that I was loved
