the wise came to me in august past.
come forth damon in yourself.
do not be again fooled by others’
entreaties to come home.

for theirs is the way of sorrow
defining again who i am.
unrealistic goals i am reminded
bleak outlook of tomorrows.

never again will this man fear
the great promise created
by them to assure me
of emptiness.
