POETRY, PICTURES AND PROSE
Poetry, pictures, and prose
I seem to be good at all three
Though not always easy, I scribe
The trouble between you and me
Most words I find easy to rhyme
As pictures of you come across
The crannies and nooks in my head
So vast is this new sense of loss
Poetry, pictures, and prose
Has earned me more than one award
But I cannot document time
Or measure how much this has cost
The sun breaks and night time is done
My cats come to nudge me awake
My phone says you still haven’t called
My friends say to shop or to fake
The way I am feeling inside
To focus on something that’s fun
To stop with the pictures and prose
The words that ask if we are done
But poetry, pictures And prose
Entwined with the music we share
Do not sound the same when you’re gone
So empty when you are not there

Author’s Note: Thank you Pat. I now own a new Drinkwell Fountain… the deluxe version… and you gave me the idea for this poem as well!
