HOW YOU LIVE
It's not how you're born
It is how you live
It's less what you take
It's more what you give
It's not about hate
It is about love
Do not blame your background
Instead rise above
Your station and address
Are not chains that bind
It's not state-of-the-art
But a state of the mind
That will nurture your insides
And strengthen your soul
It's how you treat others
That will keep you whole
Or 'cause you to feel like
Like you're coming apart
And build up defenses
And harden your heart
It isn't your parents
It isn't your twin
who get to determine
The things you put in
That make you feel empty
Or make you run full
It's you who decides
If you push or you pull
You color your own dreams
Or see black and white
It's you who decides
when day turns into night
The way that you live
Is the way you will sleep
It's you who can choose
If you laugh or you weep
It's you who determines
If you blame or you deal
And it's up to you
If you hurt or you heal
You can open a window
You can let in the light
You can keep your mouth shut
You can do what is right
You can walk towards the truth
You can shun those who lie
The way that you live
Is the way you will die
