CATS IN THE WINDOW
Cat in the window
Cat on the bed
While I lay sleeping
A cat on my head
Orange and yellow
Splashes of white
As I am drifting
They come in the night
Fatty and Jazzpurr
They sleep by my side
Not Purr-C C- Note
His eyes open wide
Crawls through the jungle
Of blankets and sheets
Like it’s a gang war
And he owns the streets
As I lay dozing
I hear a bell ring
Purr-C is pulling
A bright tattered string
That he has lassoed
Attached to the mouse
Purr-C has chased it
All over the house
Now he has brought me
The spoils of his war
2 in the morning
He drops to the floor
Runs through the house hold
Like he’s on patrol
This 3-month-old kitten
Has taken control
With fearless defiance
He’s captured my heart
And who am I kidding
I knew from the start
That I was his prisoner
The minute we met
Like Jazzpurr and Fatty
I have no regret
I love them to pieces
From tail to their nose
Of course I’m no fan
When they come for my toes
Or Jazz gives a love bite
Like I am his mate
I’m trying to teach him
My hands aren’t bait
For just a few seconds
He seems to give pause
Comprendo dear Big Girl
Then outcome the claws
His tail beckons Fatty
Then Purr-C piles on
Three cats in my window
They wait for the dawn
