ANOTHER ONE DEAD
(For Ritchie and Meg, and all who have crossed over)
Another one dead
They are dropping like flies
While I sit here and mourn
Try and say something wise
Or just try to discern
What I don't understand
Try to orchestrate
What I cannot command
Another friend gone
In the blink of an eye
They are leaving this earth
Without saying goodbye
I am left to discuss
If I did or did not
Act the part of friend
Well – I admit I forgot
That the people I love
May not live as I do
I thought I would go first
But instead it was you
Who pulled out of this place,
From the life you had built –
Now I'm left to pick up
All the rubble and guilt
Are you watching the show
From some cloud in the sky?
Could you give me a sign?
I would like to know why
I am left to move on
In a world filled with pain
If there's something beyond
Could you come and explain
That we'll meet by and by
That this is not the end
If I knew that for sure
Then perhaps I could mend
