ALL MY THOUGHTS DREAM
When I wander through my mind
As I'm apt to do
All my thoughts reveal themselves
They come back to you.
To the world, I'm sleeping sound
Inside I'm awake
Asking you to come with me
Give my hand to take.
In my dreams, you look at me
"Puzzling", you say!
"How did you get over here?
I live faraway"
I pretend that I don't know
Say it's somewhat strange
You just stand and shake your head
"This was all arranged"
You say you can't be controlled
Act as if you're shocked.
You get up and bar the door.
Make sure it's still locked.
Then you go and count your dreams
You reach thirty-three
Dust the old turntable off
Hold an old LP
"Though it's got a scratch or two
It is one of three.
It is a collectible"
Then you brag to me...
"No one understands this song
Complex harmony
I unlocked it long ago
Solved the mystery"
You ask me to listen now
Ask if I can see
While I'm thinking to myself
I should have a key
How I hate those dead bolt locks
Noisy when they turn
I put on my liar's face
"There so much to learn"
Well, you say, we'll take it slow
Lessons just begun
In my dream, it's almost dawn.
In yours, the night is young.
When I wander through my mind
You are always there.
Hiding by some cornerstone
With your knowing stare.
You play hopscotch through the fog,
An Oscillating beam.
I think all the worlds a play.
A dream within a dream.
When I finally reach your side
You look up at me
Now here comes my favorite part
You hand me a key.
You say that's its premature
I think that it's old
I wake up and start again
Let the day unfold.
As I shake myself, awake
I search for a clue
Naked in the morning light
All my thoughts of you!
