Robin Amy Bass
THE ‘SPLAININ’
Woke me up you did indeed
Zoned right in with rapid speed
You’re the match and I’m the fuse
Don’t tell Ben, but you’re my muse.
When your pen comes close to me
I’m unlocked and you’re the key
Lord knows what comes over me
I feel this proclivity
To describe – subjectively
What I think… then wait to hear…
When you’re gone, I miss you dear
Half way round the world, you sleep
While I drive and try to keep
to my schedule, go to work
In my head, your poems do lurk
Stuck in traffic, honking horns
I am sitting so forlorn
Col is clever – I am stuck
Horns are beeping… Quiet Schmuck…!
I’m composing in my head
Col is sleeping in his bed
Col is resting, I am late
Once again, I took his bait
Hooked me like my name is Bass
Hope I answered with some class
Light turns green – I pick up steam
I hope I did not demean
or – I shudder – miss the point
even worse – to disappoint
Col a cut above the rest
Just to know you… I am blessed
