THE LIGHTS ARE ON
The lights are on but nobody’s home
It seems they must be asleep
I thought my poem would touch someone’s heart
at least make one of them weep
The lights are on, but inside the place
they must be taking a shower
I wrote an epic that nobody read
I sent it over an hour
The lights are on but no one responds
I’ve phoned, I’ve written, I’ve texted
The lights shine brightly, but silence pervades
It leaves me greatly perplexed
They say if you can’t say something nice
then don’t say nothing at all
But I know Colin would tell me the truth
In perfect font… not too small
The lights are on and so I surmise
I’ve interrupted their sup
But I’ll keep writing and say what I feel
and pray that soon, they’ll catch up!
