SOMETIMES

Sometimes in the morning
I want to call you up
Sometimes I get the urge
To say, “Please come to sup”

Sometimes I lie in bed
And think of things you do
Sometimes I get the urge
To come and be with you

Sometimes I get the urge
To call your name out loud
Sometimes I shake it off
I find that I’m too proud

Sometimes I call you up
And find you are not there
Sometimes I lie and say
“Well, I don’t really care”

Sometimes I call you up
And you say, “Call me back”
Sometimes – not often though –
Your armor starts to crack

Sometimes we laugh so hard
We’re thinking the same thing
Sometimes the timing’s right
Both phones begin to ring

Sometimes I call you up
And you have turned me off
Sometimes I wake you up
You light a butt and cough

Sometimes you’re wide-awake
You grab my hand and say,
“This time was really fun;
I wish that you could stay”

Sometimes you say, “Drive safe
And call me when you’re near”
Sometimes, when I’m alone
I wish that you were here.
