ROCK AND ROLL

I sit on this rock
and watch the clouds roll
I cannot sit still
for deep in my soul

A voice says
Get up – might as well take the chance;
That guy over there…
Go and ask him to dance

But storms clouds are threatening,
I think it might rain
Does he hear the music
that plays in my brain?

I stand on the rock,
It’s a big one – you see
I inch up my skirt
Now he’s looking at me

So now I start singing,
My hips start to sway.
The guy on the next rock says,
“What’s that you say?”

I say, “I am singing” – and then I advance;
“I’m tired of sitting – would you like to dance?”
and in a split second we’re whirling around
No bad day at black rock… we’re high off the ground.

The Sun pokes its head through;
It brightens my soul
And we go on dancing
I love rock and roll
