I NEED – YOU NEED
You need to own up to your side of the street
You need to concede you were wrong
You need to believe that it wasn’t all me
And hasten your step – don’t take long
I need to think hard, with my head not my heart
Perhaps I should be more like you
You know if I did, what you did, you would say
I don’t know if we’ll work this through
You need to come down from that perch where you sit
That holier than – smart as a whip
And when you come down – bend your elbow and brush
From more than one shoulder, the chip
You need to review every word that you spit
And then you must swallow some crow
If you can’t accept that this time, you were wrong
Then there is no place we can go
I need to stop thinking what you ought to do
I need to move on in my mind
If I cannot figure a way through this patch
I never will leave it behind
