LOSSES
The ocean has visited my eyes this week
It has left a salted trail upon my cheek
Death has visited thrice near my door
And left me saddened for a loss evermore
Uncle Sonny's charm, wit, and infectious smile
His strength and droll humor gone for a while
His life goes on in his memory
I hold just one key to the vault-my heart's treasury
Aunt Jane loved life and was most prolific
Her progeny around thought her quite terrific
Her children, once so young, now stalwart elders
I was once a playmate, for their pain I offer firm shoulders
Finally, we lost my dear aunt, Marjorie
Always quick with a true, sometimes humorous story
Out of the past or new one she heard that day
Hers was so unexpected, seems she was stolen away
I have lost three so dear and sorely I weep
Sorrow fills my heart with a pain so deep
It was their time, thinking rationally, I know
Still I taste the salt; the tears still flow
