I DO LOVE IT SO

Rebel base, we have gooks in the wire
Scramble, Scramble, kick the tire and light the fire
The turbine is whining when my front seat arrives
Soon he'll bring smoke halfway through our dive

Like big sharks we move through the air
The eerie black and white ground lit by flare
I lower the nose toward the flash of claymore
Then we fire the rockets two, then four

We see Charlie running through our mini-gun burst
I cry, "Get them all" with a terrible blood thirst
My front seat hollers, "look at them run!
Man I can't remember when I've had so much fun!"

I should have trembled, repulsed by his words
Controlling the flight of those powerful killing birds
Brings home a reality no one should know
For in all truth, "God forgive me, I do love it so!"

I was watching the movie Patton when I was caught by a phrase uttered by George C. Scott,
"God forgive me, I do love it so."
