SOON THEY’LL BE GONE

WWII Memorial: Washington DCWhen Veterans Day is observed
Most people don’t realize
That about every two minutes
A World War Two veteran dies
There’s no fanfare for headlines
Just friends and family
To say goodbye to these men
Who served so gallantly
These are America’s heroes
Who fought to keep us free
They shed their blood overseas
For the cause of Liberty
From Pearl Harbor to Normandy
They served with pride
And very few people even know
That so many have died
They should be honored now
So they don’t die unknown
If you meet one, thank him
For soon they’ll be gone
