BRINGING A HERO HOME
The big jet landed at the airport
At the terminal it turned around
The cargo doors were opened
A coffin was lowered to the ground
It was placed in a waiting hearse
Just inside the terminal gate
Then the hearse started rolling
From the airport to the interstate
All the ramps were closed off
So the procession could proceed
A U.S. Veterans motorcycle club,
Two by two, was taking the lead
Cars were pulled over everywhere
Even the big trucks were on the side
For everyone knew by the flags
A hero was taking his last ride
After traveling for several miles
The long procession of cars slowed
They left the interstate highway
And turned onto a country road
They passed through the countryside
And by the fields be used to roam
Up ahead a little town is waiting
For they’re bringing a hero home
