MY COUSIN – A TRUE STORY
To be married
on the next day –
asleep on the bed,
bottle of pills by her head.
Many years
of bad relationships;
a friend and lover:
she was set
finally happiness
to be hers.
One last night,
all alone
she took
one too many
now she lay dead;
what a fucking waste.
She was my age,
and my generation;
beautiful and sweet,
picked the wrong guys.
Finally found the right one,
a day too late.
Broken dreams –
heartbroken family
She was a nurse,
a heart big as outdoors;
she died full of promise
and broken dreams.
RIP Kathy.
