David R. “Poppa” Alexander
I AM BUT…
I am but a sparrow
A small and insufficient thing
The Lord takes care of me
while I sing
I am but a man
A sinner by birth
The Lord takes care of me
even though of my lowly worth.
I am but a carpenter
A shaper of wood
The Lord takes care of me
like he said he would.
I am but a servant
My goal is to serve Him in any way I can
The Lord takes care of all my wants
and the canyons I must span.
I am but a child of God
Saved by the His Grace
The Lord is in Heaven
preparing for me a place.
I am all of these things
If he cares for the least of his creation a sparrow
The Lord takes care of me,
my needs, and by no means the width be narrow.
I am but a speck of sand
If the Lord will care for all the rest
The Lord will care of me
for truly I am blessed.
