PERSEVERATE

I do agree quite openly
that the dictionary does omit
The word you’ve spelled with an extra “r”
because it don’t exist

The word that you are looking for
is spelled differently you see
“Perseverate” is the word you want;
drop the second “r” for me.

The word derives from persevere;
to repeat then repeat again
I insist, perhaps redundantly,
that the word is not a pain.

But to perseverate this verbal fact
and risk your friendly ire
I’ll throw more coal, and then some more,
upon the verbal fire

“Perserverate” just does not appear
in any lexicon that I know
And you have searched too, and behold,
the word just doesn’t show

To perseverate one moment more
would be a waste of time
So please, the spelling is “perseverate”,
if you would be so kind!
